More Information

Come join Friends of the River and California Trout for a very special Bay Area showing of the new film, The River Why, to benefit California's wild flowing rivers and the native trout, salmon and steelhead they support.

Prior to the screening in Lucasfilm's state-of-the-art facility, a VIP wine and hors d'oeuvres reception with special guests from the film will be held next door at the Presidio Social Club. Reception attendees will receive priority seating for the film.

Based on the acclaimed novel, beloved of fishermen and river lovers alike, The River Why is the story of young Gus Orviston, the "Mozart of flyfishing," who leaves his big city home in rebellion from his family to live in a secluded cabin on the banks of a wild river. Instead of finding fishing bliss, he is driven to a reluctant quest for self-discovery. Above all, The River Why is a love story: the love of a man for the wilderness, and for the free-spirited woman who comes to share it with him.

TICKETS ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED! Only 300 are available for the film and 50 for the VIP reception. Purchase yours now!
